PFA – Chemical Resistance

PFA is an excellent choice for sample introduction systems because it resists the most aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals and solvents over the broadest temperature range, including:

  • strong mineral acids (including HF)
  • inorganic bases
  • inorganic oxidizing agents
  • salt solutions
  • aldehydes
  • chlorocarbons
  • organic acids
  • anhydrides
  • aromatics
  • alcohols
  • ketones
  • esters
  • fluorocarbons

PFA is only attacked by certain halogenated complexes containing fluorine, molten sodium and potassium. PFA, therefore, is resistant to any liquid sample that can be analyzed by ICP-OES and ICP-MS.
